Gas is included in the price, but if the tank runs under 1/4 full, you must refuel the tank using the FuelCard that is located inside the Zipcar.Ĭurrently, the fleet consists of regular and low-emissions vehicles, including the Toyota Prius and the Toyota Matrix. Instead of using keys, zipcar members are issued a Zipcard, which allows the card holder access to a vehicle during the time of his or her reservation. In turn, the hope is that the program will reduce traffic congestion, reduce the need for additional campus parking, and reduce automobile emissions. UCSC invited the program to the UCSC campus to try to reduce the need or desire for students to bring their cars to Santa Cruz, and Ecology Action has recently partnered with Zipcar to expand the community program.
